Mac Christmas Collection Nutcracker

Now I got this early purely because I normally leave it too late and end up missing out.
The item that really stood out to me was the Magic Dust Powder.
I chose the color Sweet Vision.

Now Im going to use this as a blusher/ highlighter.
A lovely pink with gold tones in the light.
I think it would be too much to wear just as either blush or just as a highlighter. So I'm going layer in between my blush and highlighter thinly.
More pics to come with my Palette reviews.

Palette reviews Part 1

So I have steered away from lipsticks for a while and I have a new obsession with eye Palettes.
So i'm going to do four blog posts of my favourite palettes at the moment.
Now two of these palettes I got from the same site, the Kat Von D and the ABH, because I got a good discount, but the ABH palette arrived used and I received such horrible customer service that I had to end up buying it elsewhere, so I don't want to advertise the company.
So today I'm going to start with the Kat Von D Shade and Light eye Palette.

This was a palette many people have raved about, but it never really appealed to me, and then I used a website that gave me enough discount that I thought id give it a try.

Now I officially understand why people go so crazy over this!
I dip into this everyday because it has some amazing transition colors in it.
All of these shadows are soft and velvety. The paler ones aren't as pigmented as some of the other palettes I'm going to be reviewing, but they blend beautifsully.
The colors I tend to stick to the most are Laetus, Lucius, Solas and Lucius.
So from left to right we have Ludwin, Succubus, Sytry and Latinus.

From top to bottom Lazarus, Saleos, Shax and Liberatus.

Laetus, Samael, Solas and Lucius.

This Palette really is amazing for every day looks, and perfect for a nice smokey eye.
The one thing i will say about this i think for the price it should have a brush.
I always have an issue when palettes don't have brushes or mirrors. So thats the only flaw I can really point out with this.
If you are wanting a staple palette I think this is the one for you!

Odds and Sods review

So I have a few products that dont really warrant their own blog posts, but are worth mentions.
So this post will have products that I want to talk about.

Now first we have an item I bought after the last review, and its the Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Highlighter.

Now the photos do not give this product justice!
It is so beautiful and the perfect product to give your glow that extra boost!
I'm not going to lie, I pack on a lot more of this stuff than I should, but its totally worth it!
I also find using this for the inner corners on the eye gives a nice extra boost!

Next we have the Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Oh, Lady.
This colour had me going  to three different Mac stores to track down before I was able to snag it.
It has amazing stay power, however does bleed slightly which can be solved with a clear lipliner. That is a bit of a pain because with liquid lipstick I like to be able to put it on and go.

Next we have Benefit Majorette booster blush.
This is a creme to liquid blush, which looks way better on the face than it does my hand.
It has a smooth application, and I like to use it ontop of my usual blush to add an extra kick. Its something I apply with my beauty blender as I find using anything else makes it apply very patchy.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow powder Duo.
Now this came in a lovely kit with the powder, the brush, tweezers, brown stencils, brow gel and a little leather case.
I mainly use the powder and brush.
As you may have noticed i'm not the best with eyebrows [kylie lip kit review D:D:D:D:] So this is something which I have been slowly but surely been trying to learn how to use without looking crazy.
The two shades are perfect for the front of the brown to create a nice transition.
If you wet the brush you can create a bolder look.
To be honest i have a few Anastasia products and they are really high quality brand. Definitely worth the money.
Cult Beauty stock Anastasia products and if you keep an eye out they do a lot of free shipping deals.

Products I'm not happy with.

I very rarely find products I don't like, but it does happen every now and again. So here are a couple of product I'm not happy with.

First we have Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Rich Blood
This was the first try of this product just after opening it.
To be honest it looked used and the product was all lumpy. I did such a large swatch to try and break up that big lump, but I failed. Now I did email the customer service team, and the reply I got was
" I'd recommend giving it a thorough shake and a mix with the applicator!"
Which I wasn't very happy with. I know others with the same lipstick who's consistency was completely different and theirs actually looked new when they received it. I emailed back saying as much and didnt get a reply.
I still tried it out and wore it for a day. It bled, unlike the other liquid lipsticks and smudged. I'm really not happy with the customer services so I'm not going to be buying anything else from Jeffree Star. I cant stand bad customer service so I don't want to give this company any more of my money.

Now these next two are from Too faced cosmetics and I'm going to talk about them together because I have the same issues with both.
Now these are the Melted Liquifeid Metallic Lipsticks in Chocolate Candy bar, and the Metal in Debutante.
Both of these smell lovely, as I tend to find all of their products do which is a big selling point for me.
I so wanted to like these lipsticks after how long I waited for them to ship.
Now down to what I dont like about them. They are super sheer. To be able to get a decent color payoff you have to have it quite thick, and when you look at the swatches on the website they do seem to be very pigmented. Now I have tried both of these on all day, once thick for the color payoff, and once thin.
On both applications they are super sticky, and when you put your lips together the top lips sticks to the bottom and it becomes patchy and for the lack of a better work, blobby. It also cracks and doesn't dry which means I have to keep reapplying throughout the day.
I have found you can get a way better product for cheaper. I won't throw them away, but they are the type of thing I will put in my fancy dress makeup case as something that I dont mind getting messy.

Battle of the lipsticks!

This is just a little update of whats coming up.
With my job I have to keep my makeup on point at all times and one of the biggest bug bears for me, is having to constantly check my makeup.
So over my next couple of flights I'm going to be try and testing lipsticks.
I'm going to test the following lipsticks on how long they last, how well they last e.g. if they crack or bleed, and if needed how well a second application goes on. No-one wants a clumpy mess when trying a second layer.
The lipsticks I will be putting to the test are the following
Kylie Jenner Liquid lipstick in Posie K [ I will try with both lipstick and liner and then just the lipstick]
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Redrum
Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Charmed
Too faced Liquid Lipstick in Sell out
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor
Gerard Cosmetic Hydra Matte in Serenity

I will take photos on when I first put it on, photo updates throughout the day so you can see.

So watch this space!

Highlighters!

So glowing is the in thing at the moment, and I have to say I'm loving it!
I have officially turned into one of those people who puts on so much highlighter you can see my cheek bones across the room. I'm not going to apologise for it because I love it!
Over the past few months/ weeks I've been playing with some highlighters so heres a little review of the ones I'm using.

Now most of you have probably see this before, and if not its the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in  That Glow.
I love this kit and as you can see from the photos you can pop the pans out and put them in a magnetic palette. I love the sleek packaging so I won't be doing that, but its a great idea.
The only color I dont really use is golden bronze, and thats because I'm waiting till the sun comes out a bit more. Now they have two other kits which I will at some point get my hands on, but for now this baby is enough.

Mac Mineralize skinfinish in Otherearthly.
Now this was a complete impulse buy and i'm loving it.
Now I haven't mixed all three shades together because I can't bring myself to ruin the pattern, yes I'm that sad xD
The middle pink color is the one I'm drawn to the most, you cant tell from the photos but it has a nice iridescence to it.
Its a nice product to layer though, so put the brown on, then the pink and then just a slight bit on the silver on the top =]

Now I couldn't wait to get my hands on one of these.
I wanted Mint Condition as well as King Tut, but I couldnt afford both, and the retailer I was going to buy King Tut from has 75% of their shipment turn up completely smashed, so it was just Mint Condition for me.
Now when I first got it I was so shocked at how big it was, Its huge which is always a big plus.
Then I started to have a little play with it, and to be honest, i'm not sure about it.
For the lack on a better explanation, its quite a grainy product. Not in a bad way, but its just not as smooth compared to the other highlighters that I've used. Its nice a pigmented and glides on quite nicely. If used sparingly enough I could get away with it for work which is always a plus. Now would I buy another one of these highlighters? I would have to physically see it and touch it before committing.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade.
This is my daily go to highlighter. Whether I'm popping it on my cheekbones or under my brown or cupids bow I absolutely love it.  Its lovely and build-able so if you want a nice subtle glow or if you want to glow like the gods this product is great. This little baby was an upsell when I went to the Mac store in Exeter. I went in for lipstick and she "just wanted to see what it looked like on my skin tone" popped it on and I was sold instantly.

Now here are a couple of posy selfies which some glow ;)

Who doesn't love a shameless selfie?

Kylie Jenner Liquid Lipstick Review

So its been a while since I've done a new post, but cabin crew training has kept me busy.
So onto the Kylie Jenner lipsticks.
I purchased 5 altogether after contasntly texting my sister to make sure she was at home ready to try and get some for me as i was out for dinner at the time.

I managed to get my hands on Koko K, Posie K,  Exposed, King K and Reign.

I have to say I am loving all of these.
They all have a scent to them which I'm not the biggest fan of, but when I have the lipstick on I forget all about it.

We will start with the metallics Reign on the left and King K on the right.

Out of these two King K is by far my favourite. I just think the color suits me better and I love the way it captures the light.
Now what I will say about these is that they dont dry. So eating does make it come off a bit. They work very well together to make a ombre lip as well which is always a nice plus.
They have a lovely texture so they have a very smooth application.

I will start off by saying these are the best matte liquid lipsticks I have ever used. They are super lightweight, they don't dry my lips out, I don't need to reapply throughout the day; and in my job I need to make sure my lipstick is on point all day, so it's great knowing I don't have to worry about my lips. I like that it comes with the pencil, I think it helps the color last longer.

Exposed. This is a nice nudes that when on my lips its slightly darker than my skin tone. Now it did look darker on the website.

Posie K is by far my favourite color out of all the lip kits. Its darker than how it is photographing, but its a nice daytime pop of color.

Koko K its a slightly lighter pink. Its not my favourite out of all the colors. Its a color I would pop on if I was wearing minimal makeup.

So I have to say, if you can get your hands on any of theses they are definitely worth the money!
The only tips I can give you when it comes to trying to snag one, is, have the page of the lipstick you want open at least two hours before they launch, keep an eye on Facebook to see when they are going on sale, and refresh like crazy.

As I said these are by far the best liquid lipsticks I have used so far.

xoxo
